The change that you’ve been looking for is finally in sight. I’ve been saying we’re going to have to wait till Fall actually gets here for true change to take place. Long range ensembles are coming together around the 20th timeframe for a decent front to arrive.

A Pacific storm system will move into Baja California and tropical moisture will spread into Texas. This should help breakdown the ridge in place and send a welcomed cool front for the Southern Plains. Hang in there we still have two more weeks of hot and dry conditions.

It is a ways out, but the signal has been consistent over the last several days. Living in North Texas you typically get your first Fall front in the 3rd week of September. Climatology this falls right in line. No question, it’s been a long hot and dry Summer. Any signs of change is welcomed as most people are getting a little annoyed by now that this heat won’t let up.

Not much change in the next 10 days, but signs are looking better by the day that decent rain chances and cooler temps are at least in sight now. Summer is just trying to squeeze out every last day.

The updated Euro Seasonal outlook is out and it confirms what I’ve been saying for a while now.

The pattern change you’ve been waiting for looks to finally arrive in October. October is usually already one of the wettest months of the year. With a strong El Niño in place it could really kick into overdrive once the subtropical jet gets going. You have to be patient a couple more weeks and let Summer run its course. Then above average rains are likely October, November and December.
